Ptarmigan: Prog / Jazz / Folk / Classical Fusion

Composer Brian Wilshere brings his new group Ptarmigan to the Whitworth for an evening of original and inspiring music.  

With 5 commercially released albums for Louba Reve records already under his belt Brian’s new venture is, in his words, a “Prog/Jazz/Folk/Classical fusion”.  

The music combines the rhythmic sophistication and electric guitar textures of Prog Rock, improvisational elements of Jazz, a prominent acoustic guitar drawing on the Folk tradition, and the melodic aspect of Classical music courtesy of Violinist Rob Jourdain, already well known locally as a member of both Shanks’ Pony and Ar Faoued.
