About the event
With energy bills increasing and the worrying weather patterns that scientists believe reflects climate change, we need to take action in our own homes that address this.
Darley Dale Town Council and The Whitworth are hosting their annual Big Green Energy Event which will give you the opportunity to spend time getting a much better feel as to what might work for you in your home and who could help get the work done.
Various exhibitors will be three on the day - Arctic Glaze Ltd, Ashfen Windows & Doors, Derbyshire Dales District Council, Dales Climate Hub, Derbyshire Dales Community Energy, IMS Heat Pumps Ltd, Marches Energy Agency, Orbit Solar, Simon Hollis (Chartered Surveyor), Smarts Homes Electrical, T4 Sustainability, Turbine Energy and UK Hempcrete & Natural Building Stone.
There will be presentations throughout the day by some of the exhibitors:
Smart Homes (11am-11:30am) – The benefits of solar and storage systems, which combine solar panels with battery storage. Simon Hollis, Chartered Surveyor (11:30am-12pm) – Building defects/problems Simon has encountered with the installation of energy-saving materials in traditionally constructed buildings. Blakemore Heating and Plumbing (12pm-12:30pm) – Q&A session about heat pumps. IMS Heat Pumps (1pm-1:30pm) – Myth-buster presentation about heat pumps. Marches Energy Agency (1:30pm-2pm) – Retrofit assessments – what they involve, and their usefulness.
